Report from the team with the latest news
unlucky times turn around slowly
Written by Ingo ten Vregelaar Wednesday, 05 May 2010 19:13
There have been a few races in the past weeks but there was a lot of work because of the problems we had… The engine suffered from a overheating in one race and we had to continue with this engine for a few heats more before we found the problem. Now that we do, after this week it should be ready again!
The first race after Lochem was in Oss where the weather was in a bad mood. Over flooded parts of the track made the organization decided to short the circuit a little. Because of the little practice on sandy tracks, this was a difficult race… Due to some unlucky moments and bad starts because failing engine power it was to be a disastrous day. It was very bad because there is no chance for a good result in the Dutch championship anymore…
Then there was the UEM championship in Oldebroek. After a good qualification on the Saturday there was many bad weather on the Sunday. We were “lucky” to be racing on Monday where weather was OK again, but the track suffered from this. With 2 bad starts it was not easy in the international field because we knew our engine was not strong for this yet.
Home track Sint Isidorushoeve was the first of the races in 2010 where in the end of the day, there was light on the end of the tunnel. A good qualification brought 2nd place. The first heat AGAIN a bad start and a little bit riding forward at the finish we were 6th. Second heat finally a good start on 5th place, which turned into 3rd place after some hard work. 1 point failed for the days podium but the main thing was that it went a little better!
Heads up where the hard tracks where coming up. The engine was changed to a stock one because we had to do some work on the power of the regular one… So even less power than before, but that was less important on very hard tracks. The circuit of Aufenau had an International race for Quads and we reported as one of the 32 riders. Fastest in Qualifying and a 1-2 in the heats pleased us more than we can say. Big smiles and happy people on the way home was something we would wish for every Sunday!
Kamp-Lintfort, a beautiful track and the 1st race of the new born Int. German Championship Quads. A competitive championship with all hard track races which suit us very… Qualifying was good again, second place but just about that close it was. The starts seem to cause the most problems but now it was good on 4th place, after one lap it was changed in 3rd and in the first turn it could have been second. BUT is wasn’t. the rider in front of me was not as aggressive as me in the corners and we hit and got stuck… for almost half a minute. A furious me had to ride like a crazy man to catch up and managed to get to 4th place. A great ride I might say, it went really well. Second heat again a good start at 5th place and after 2 laps in the end of the straight… no front brake anymore. Off track was the result and again catching up was the only thing to do but not easy because of the brake failure. Again 4th place in the day results because of the 5th place in 2nd heat but looking at the way of riding it could have been a much better result. With good hope we will compete the next races coming…
See you on track! Regards #110

The start of 2010 - ONK Lochem
Written by Ingo ten Vregelaar Tuesday, 09 March 2010 07:50
Last Sunday was the first ONK championship race for Quads on Dutch soil. All good Dutch, Belgian and German riders were present. Enormous fun to drive but also a tough race in a field of many "heavy artillery". The free practice and time practice were in one session, it’s the format for these race days but the same for everybody. On top of that we were dealing with a tricky frozen track. I also had to deal with a faltering engine but nevertheless (and unexpectedly so) still a 2nd time on the clock.
For the first race, we adjusted the set-up slightly and that turned out to be a good choice ... The first 15 minutes went well but the man with the hammer was inexorable. Too little training due to bad weather conditions in the preseason was a fact so I had to drop my pace due to pumped arms. In the end a 6th place was certainly a bit disappointing. The impression of the engine was that the new settings was a bit much, and therefore we changed it a little again. That was WRONG, because after the gate dropped... the engine stopped, and after a restart a pursue was the only option. After about 3 laps engine was almost entirely out but was still running. After some trying I could push on but by a big distance. The ride was much more consistent but the adjustments were far from ideal. Still 7th on the line but completely dissatisfied.
Meanwhile we have started solving the problems and working hard on a good pace, assuming from now on the weather cooperates. In

2010 is a GO!!!
Written by Ingo ten Vregelaar Sunday, 17 January 2010 20:13
Dear Quad fans,
It's a new year where everybody starts from zero again! We have planned to work hard again to become a successful team. I mean, as you maybe know we have made a few changes behind the screens, but it all worked out very positive. Our new formation is based on the firm Quadservice Ten Vregelaar. The reason we started this is to try to bring our experiences over to other riders and their machines… Therefore we start with a new look this year as you can see below.
I hope that all people will keep supporting us as they did all years before. We will let nobody down and, as said, work hard to bring the best results on and off track.

2009 towards the end...
Written by Ingo ten Vregelaar Wednesday, 30 September 2009 19:42
The schedule was very busy so tired as we are at the moment we had some really good races with great results and a bit of bad luck at some times… Not that we could do much about that but it just happened! Some very positive results are 2nd place in 12 hours Endurance of Pont de Vaux and 3rd place in the MX of nations in Jauer. These numbers make us very proud and it shows that the new Yamaha Quad is on the good way to performance. Also the last 2 races in the UEM were good but always 1 bad heat gave a bad turn to our day results. Because we were riding a standard yfz450r there were some hard times trying to make up some time but that did not always work out. As said, we are on the good way to the future because we learned a lot and had a lot of fun (the most important ingredient for results!).
Anyway, here are some numbers from this season.
Final results in the European Championship:
1. Paul Holmes (UK)
2. Joe Maessen (Ned)
3. Stefan Schreiber (Ger)
4. Jan Vlaeymans (Bel)
5. Ingo Ten Vregelaar – Goldspeed Yamaha (Ned)
Final results EMX of nations:
1. Team France
2. Team Portugal
3. Team Nederland (Joe Maessen, Ingo ten Vregelaar & Joris Kersten)
4. Team Great Britain
5. Team België
Final results 12H Pont de Vaux:
1. GILLOIN Yoann (F) / BONNARD Mathieu (F) / ABFALTER Jean Michel (F)
2. MAESSEN Joe (NL) / TEN VREGELAAR Ingo (NL)
3. VLAEYMANS Jan (B) / BREMS Davy (B) / HOFMANS Joost (NL)
4. CLEMENTE Frédéric (F) / SOUZA BORGES Tony (F) / TORRACO Mattia (I)
5. REMACLE Thomas (B) / LAMET Cyril (F) / TERNYNCK Mathieu (F)

UEM MX Kegums (Lat)
Written by Ingo ten Vregelaar Wednesday, 12 August 2009 15:29
More than we expected they changed the Kegums track because of the MX1 GP World championship race earlier this year. The track had improved so much that we fast forgot our 1800km journey. Timepractice was a bad thing again but this time the rider was the problem, no clear had and to much frustration… The races where still to come so no problem. First heat the start was difficult but ok. After a 20 minute fight we managed to get from 8th to 5th spot. The second start was equal to the first. In the second lap Schreiber crashed and stopping for this was necessary to avoid a hit. After again 20 minutes in the battle 3rd spot was the best we could but it was the first podium with the brand new Yamaha 450R so happy as we were! Thirth heat we had to deal with some little problems and cruising to the finish was the only thing we could do. In the end of the day still on 4th place was something we were pleased about but we were hoping for more after the first 2 races that day. The bike ran realy good this weekend so we can work on a good second half of the season now…
Championship standings after Kegums:
1. Paul Holmes – KTM – 286 pts
2. Joe Maessen – Goldspeed Yamaha – 221 pts
3. Stefan Schreiber – KTM – 204 pts
4. Jan Vlaeymans – W-Tec – 160 pts
5. Ingo Ten Vregelaar – Goldspeed Yamaha - 209 pts

Lovely Geisleden
Written by Ingo ten Vregelaar Wednesday, 12 August 2009 15:06
A very nice track, almost completely build by nature itself… Always lovely to race here and the atmosphere is then good to. Fun on the bike is normally always shown in the results but that could be a little bit better this time. Racing went very good but 2 time the start was a bad part of the race. On 4th the 1st heat and 3rd spot for race 2 it was a good day. It should have been perfect if you look at the fun we had but there is always a change next year… No???
Championship standings after Geisleden:
1. Joe Maessen – Goldspeed Yamaha – 282 pts
2. Stefan Schreiber – KTM – 263 pts
3. Ingo Ten Vregelaar – Goldspeed Yamaha - 209 pts
4. Tobias Lenz – Suzuki – 177 pts
5. Kevin Ristenbieter – Yamaha – 162 pts

UEM MX Slagelse (Den)
Written by Ingo ten Vregelaar Wednesday, 12 August 2009 15:04
A sandy Slagelse track, that is narrow and not loved by everybody, was the place to be for round 3 of the Goldspeed EUM championship. Hard to find a good rhythm and suffering some problems gave us only 9th spot on the grid. The first heat it was already over after 1 lap. In 4th position the chain was pushed of because of a broken chain guard… Second heat in the first lap we lost almost 2 minutes because of a rider who got stuck and therefore caused problems. Eventually at the finish 16th place was the max so only 4 points. Third heat was the only good race all weekend, at 9th position after the start we managed to take 4th place in the end. To bad to lose so many points again but there no time to look back because we have busy times…

MX Bentelo, what a beautiful day...
Written by Ingo ten Vregelaar Wednesday, 12 August 2009 15:02
The Wednesday race in Bentelo is one of a few races outside of the championships that is a regular on our schedule… More or less because organize it our self. No pressure and just having always Works here although the home crowd always want to see a good race from a local “hero”. First heat started on 2nd row, after a few laps already riding on 4th spot behind van Grinsven, Hofmans and Lenz. The last one was hard to overtake and closed the door when tried. Therefore we lost round 30 seconds. A gap that only brought us to 3th place but it was fun… Second heat everything went better and after 15 minutes we won a clear race but youngster van Grinsven took the overall win because of a better total result. Considered the way it went we can only be happy with this. The party afterwards was worth all the work!
Dayresults:
1. Mike van Grinsven (1+2)
2. Ingo ten Vregelaar (3+1)
3. Joost Hofmans (3+3)

A day of hard work in Varsseveld!
Written by Ingo ten Vregelaar Monday, 08 June 2009 20:21
And a tough job it was. Not only because of the sand but also because of the home crowd, a big number of people found their way to the Varsseveld track. Because I began my career on this track I had a little advantage on the rest but I never did a big race there so that was very special. The organization was perfect and we were very lucky with the weather because the forecast was not so nice…
Anyway, 34 riders were there for the Saturday qualifying practice which was the only important moment for us. Unexpected we got some help from Gerard Seesing from Reiger Suspension to make the bike setup better and get rid of the small issues we suffered in the preseason. It helped really good but in the qualifying there was much bad luck for us! Never having a free lap putted us in 4th spot and 2nd or 3rd would be more realistic so I was not happy at all! The good part is that the race still had to come so I could catch up some of it.
First heat, a very good start… 3rd in the first chicane. I managed to keep it up until 4 laps before the end. Then a slow rider blocked my track and Winrow who was right behind me all the time saw a possibility to pass. After that I followed but could not attack him anymore. 4th place at the finish was even better than expected, even if considered that we still race the standard Yamaha YFZ450R engine!!!
Second heat, again a very good start and again 3rd position in chicane. Now there was some more pressure from Schreiber, Maessen and Macbeth. Half time I made a mistake and had to let Schreiber pass but managed to stay in front of Maessen. Half a lap after that Schreiber had problem with a slow rider and got stuck behind him so we could pass again. In the heat of passing I touched the slower rider and this dislocated my mounting point of the steering stabilizer. I had to let go the other 2 for that and got in on a save 5th place. It seemed to be my good day…
Thirth heat, spoken to early. A bad start this time, only 14th spot in the first turn and some work to do. The big problem was that the first lap it was dangerous to ride after the sidecar race so we had to be realy careful. The rithem was never there this race but a steady ride brought us to 6th place. A very good weekend it appeared to be and therefore we managed to get on 4th spot overall in the European Championship Standings.
anmark is our next meeting so we will prepare the best we can for this event. A special thanks to the whole team weekend for the support they gave me…

UEM MX Quad Gdansk (Pol)
Written by Ingo ten Vregelaar Monday, 18 May 2009 17:23
EMX Quad Gdansk (Pol) 1000km away from home in north of Poland we had the first race scheduled for the European Championship. It appeared to be a very nice one but in the late Saturday afternoon the rain came down just as we had qualifying practice. It was the same for B-group riders but it was very slippery. In this practice we managed to get 3rd spot on the screen right behind Dutch Joe Maessen and French Mathieu Thernyck. This meant a 6th pick on the Sunday because we had 2 groups because of the 36 (!) entries…
Warm up we didn’t do because it was way to wet but those conditions were saved for the 1st race. Wrong choice of setup we made and therefore we had a very bad start on 16th spot witch in the end was changed to 8th place due to some effort on a very muddy track.
2nd Race it got pretty dry already and we changed back to the Saturday setup and that worked out good. The speed was back and after a start on 9th spot we managed to ride back to 5th spot. By the time we got there the gap in front was to big to something about it and saving the power for the last heat was the choice we made…
The last race was a tough one. After the second race for the sidecars the track was really messed up but after 2 laps there was good rhythm to find. On 6th spot in the start we managed to ride back to 4th spot and when we got behind the Thernyck, driving on 3rd spot at that time, the foot peck broke and the whole nerfbars broke of. Nothing we could do than give up with only 5 minutes on the clock left. This was very good opportunity to get a lot of points but it was not meant to be… With a very sad feeling we want to get a revenge race in Holland at our home track Varsseveld. Come and support us, see ya there!

Euskirchen... behind us now
Written by Ingo ten Vregelaar Tuesday, 05 May 2009 18:42
04.00am we woke up on may 1st. Reason for this was that I got married to my lovely girlfriend Kim. The best day of my life it was and we will never forget that!! Unfortunately on the 1st of may the race in Euskirchen was scheduled again so therefore the day began early…
If I tell in advance that the race results were something like damage control, than you will properly understand. The best effort was given this day and the only happy thing we can tell is that we were #1 in time practice but the race was something different. In both heats we managed to claim 4th place and also in the days results we were on 4th spot. The championship s still a long way but we are working hard on improvement. Next race is already next weekend again in Dreetz near Magdeburg (Germany)
Dayresults:

2. Stefan Schreiber

Season opener in Aufenau (DM Germany)
Written by Ingo ten Vregelaar Tuesday, 28 April 2009 06:27
In the sun again and it was good to be there. A nice track and well organized event so perfect conditions to do a first championship race.
On Saturday we only had free practice but that was perfect for us because could do the last adjustments to bike at that time… The bike arrived very late this year so we did not had any final adjustments. We also had to be very careful because this was the first (big) race for this bike. Because everything is new we didn’t know what to expect! But the Saturday practice went very well and we made some good final engine adjustments.
Qualifying practice on Sunday morning was scheduled at 11.30. 3rd place was the best we could do, but as told we were pleased with this knowing where we stand and knowing that things only can get better during this year. In the 1st Moto it was obvious that the rhythm what missing because all our attention went to adjusting the bike. The was no time left do some race-time. A 3rd spot was the position on the finishline and pleased we were with this result. The 2nd Moto the start was a bad one and we had to begin on 8th place in the 1st turn. After 1 lap it was 6th spot already but when we arrived on 4th place things were getting harder again because of the missing rhythm… In the end 3rd place was the position at the line again and also 3rd overall. Not completely satisfied but very happy with this result… We made it on the podium!!!
1 - Stefan Schreiber
2 - Joe Maessen
3 - Ingo ten Vregelaar

First timer in Racing at Hexel on Wheels
Written by Ingo ten Vregelaar Thursday, 16 April 2009 15:10
April 13th we were in Hoge Hexel (Holland) for our First race. A local race with a few national riders but it was very well organized. 3 heats of 15 minutes + 1 lap we had had to ride and we were looking forward to this for a long time. Testing still was not finished so a little bit of tension was still there. It was the first time in the sand to and it appeared that the engine was having trouble with this… Power was not there but also nothing we could do about this! So we started the 3 heats in different levels. First heat from the last row up to the front of the pack and we won. The second heat there was trouble in the first corner and again we had to start in the back. In the last lap we passed leader Van Grinsven but a small mistake dropped us back to second place. The third heat was the best of all, not because of the clean result but because the speed was good and constantly… A good practice and a trophy to celebrate.
1. Ingo ten Vregelaar
2. Mike van Grinsven
3. Geert Gijsbers

shake down
Written by Ingo ten Vregelaar Monday, 23 March 2009 20:58
Not that there’s much to write about at this moment because we just finished the first test… OK, the Yamaha YFZ450R performed a very well first few laps and it looked promising but there is still a lot of work to do. This year we are lucky that the season is getting started late so that we have a little bit of time left before the big race in Aufenau.
We are working towards the German Quad MX Championship and the UEM Quad MX Championship this year and hope to have a big score. Whatever happens, the team is complete and hungry for results. As soon as we have some news to share, we will post it here. A good reason to visit us on regular basis…
